Git clients give you a visual view of history, branches and diffs, and make staging partial changes or resolving conflicts easier than on the command line. Some are full repository managers, while others are lightweight tools for viewing history or committing from the menu bar.
GitHub Desktop is free and open source, built around GitHub workflows. Fork is a fast paid client with a free evaluation, GitUp is a native open source app with an interactive history map, and GitButler introduces virtual branches for working on several changes at once. Check support for submodules, Git LFS and commit signing if you rely on them.
